They come with one counter balance weight and have reading depending on which pivot handle the user uses. This scale comes with counter balance weights and Reading. Also the scales body is not made of the usual hard wood but brass and an additional Brass counter. This is a scale set with the original balance weight and storage case. It's made of metal, silver colored but not magnetic.
The items to be weighed would be hung on the hook and when the balancing weight was moved on the bar to where it balanced by holding just the pivot point, the reading would be taken from where the weight was resting on the bar.
