Saito Unraku has crafted this set of two Kiyomizu ware lidded ceramic bowls with elegant and colorful paintings in medium and small sizes. Kiyomizu ware is a renowned pottery tradition in Japan with a history dating back 400 years when the culture of the tea ceremony was flourishing.

Unrakugama has been at the forefront of the Kiyomizu ware tradition for 130 years, and the current head of the store, third-generation master Unraku Saito, is recognized by the Japanese government for his artistry. Despite being 93 years old, Saito Sensei is still active and has taken only two days off work in the last 30 years. He is the only living member of the six young craftsmen who started a new movement in Kiyomizu ware.

Saito Sensei is passionate about Kiyomizu ware and considers it his sole enjoyment. The intricate and delicate paintings on these lidded bowls showcase the masterful craftsmanship of Unraku Saito and his dedication to preserving the rich cultural heritage of Kiyomizu ware.
